Here are a few tips to get you started:

  • Laugh at yourself – Find humour in things, and uncover the absurdity of life to relieve stress.
  • Have fun with people – Regularly spend time with others who make you laugh.
  • Discover comedians – Watch comedy shows, go to local comedy clubs, read satirical and laugh-out-loud funny accounts of things, etc.
  • Laugh, but not at someone else’s expense – Use good judgment. Certain topics are never funny. Use discernment to judge whether a joke is in good or poor taste.

What are you waiting for?
A good, hearty laugh will maximize the health benefits. However, the simple action of smiling or forcing yourself to laugh can lift your mood and prompt relaxation of your muscles. Give it a try!
