Breast Cancer : Changes to Watch Out For

Awareness and education are the key in preventing breast cancer. They can also help you with an early detection of breast cancer possible symptoms. Early detection of breast cancer greatly increases the chances for successful treatment. You know the usual look and feel of your breasts by observing them regularly. As soon as you become aware of a recent and persistent change, report it to your doctor. It is also important to have an annual check-up.
SKIN
- Changes in texture, thickness or colour
- Dimpling, puckering, pitting, ulceration or wound
- Localized feeling of warmth
- Redness covering at least a third of the breast
- New, more visible vein or skin shrinkage
SHAPE
- Change in size or shape of the breast
- Swelling of the breast or arm
- Change in only one breast
- Visible or palpable lump in the breast or underarm
NIPPLE
- Change in appearance
- Spontaneous discharge
- Inversion or deviation
- Persistent eczema or ulceration
